This time last week I joined weight watchers. I went in on a whim so unfortunately I had to do my initial weigh in in 4 inch heels. Come on now, who cares about foot fungus when it causes you to weigh half a pound heavier? Well, it was pretty easy to stick to the weight watchers plan. All it really requires is that you pay attention to what you are putting in your body. I actually, found it a little more difficult to eat ENOUGH when I wasn't being a total diet misfit! I have learned that if you aren't eating enough (especially with exercise) your body will think it is starving and actually hold on to weight.
So, this week, I was more prepared. I wore flat shoes and removed as much clothing as they would allow me to. Hey! I may have to wear shoes but I will get down to my skivvies ;0) And I had lost 4.5 pounds. Woo hoo! I was 2 pounds away from getting my gold star! I couldn't get my necklace off or I SO would have gotten that star!!! Oh well! Maybe next time.
The best part about weight watchers is that I get extra points (that means I get to eat more) for all of my work outs. I love that part. So, I am feeling good about this last week and I will use that to keep me focused through the weekend.

What are your incintives to meeting your goals?
Well, I've been staying consistant with my workouts and even my diet. I am 100% soda sober and happy to report that the withdrawal symptoms are finally subsiding! Woo Friggin Hoo!!!! It has been easy to stick with my work outs because I am only doing things that are fun for me. Yesterday I did BodyJam with Heather the magnificent and had a blast! BodyJam is a hip hop dance class where you can burn over 550 calories in a one hour class. It is so fun and you feed off of everybody's energy so you don't even realize you are working out. I had so much fun that I didn't even care that I didn't look as good as I thought I did when I danced ;0)
I stayed after for a real quick core class called cxworx. In 30 minutes I worked out every muscle in my tummy, my back, my legs and my booty which came in very handy later that evening (story to follow).
After all that I went to help my best friend pack because she is moving to Florida (sobs)! Seeing how I am very much an emotional eater, this had a very real possibility of sending me straight to Baskin Robbins, but I stayed focused (really I just didn't even have time to go but whatever). Me and the girls all helped Amber pack and lucky me, I got to go home with a 300 lb bag of her clothes. On the way home, I was thinking to myself, "Congratulations! You stayed strong, didn't blow your diet and workout, and ended up coming home with 300 lbs of incintives to keep your eyes on the prize". Once I got home and tried to pull said 300 lb bag of clothes up the straight incline that is my yard, I was thanking my lucky stars that I stuck around for those 7 minute, one-armed planks and the extra core strength.
I guess my lesson for today is that it is imperative to find rewards and incintives for your progress that aren't going to ruin your hard work or your ultimate goal...like clothes...4 sizes smaller ;0)

It's either Starbuck's withdrawal or a brain tumor...
My problem is that I love coffee! Wait...NO...I NEED it! I can't get enough of it! I decided to give it up cold turkey because I could easily drink as many calories as I eat. Well, somewhere between that and walking face first into the huge squat machine (probably caused by lack of caffeine), I feel like my head is going to fall off (I kinda wish it would go ahead and do so).
I have decided that cold turkey isn't the best plan for me but realize that I need to cut the calories out of my coffee and start drinking it in moderation. Here are a few tips that I found that might make this a little easier...

I have decided that cold turkey isn't the best plan for me but realize that I need to cut the calories out of my coffee and start drinking it in moderation. Here are a few tips that I found that might make this a little easier...
Standing at the counter of your local coffee house can present a challenge if you're trying to watch your weight. On the one hand you want to order what you like and what tastes good. On the other hand, you may have heard that coffee drinks can have large amounts of calories in them. Follow these tips to make sure that your coffee drink doesn't have the equivalent of a day's worth of calories in it but still tastes great.
Instructions
- 1 Order your coffee drink with skim milk and reduce the fat calories in it. Coffee drinks are made with whole milk or half and half by default. Whole milk and half and half can have very large amounts of fat in them. You can get around this obstacle by ordering your latte with skim milk instead. If you order a regular coffee, make sure you don't grab half and half or regular creamer. Look for non-dairy, fat-free creamer instead. If you simply must have the flavor of the more fatty creamers, then use part half and half and part fat-free creamer.
- 2 Choose sugar-free flavoring syrup. If you like the taste of hazelnut or caramel then go for it. Just be careful and know that some of the flavoring syrups are sugar-free and some aren't. You can sometimes tell the difference by the color of the pumps on the bottles. You can take this sugar cutting tip a step further by using calorie-free sweeteners instead of sugar to keep your coffee drink friendly for your waistline.
- 3 Order a small coffee drink. If you prefer to have your coffee with the full flavor of fat and sugar but still want to make it healthier for you then simply opt for a smaller size. Even a drink with a lot of calories can be made healthier by drinking less of it. Sometimes, just having the taste of the drink is enough to satisfy a craving for it without having to drink the whole thing.
- 4 Drink your coffee through a straw to make it healthier for your teeth. If your coffee has sugar in it, every sip you take washes that sugar over your teeth. Using a straw will allow the sugar to bypass your teeth and preserve their health by sending the coffee straight to your throat to swallow.

It would make for hilarious video footage
I have to admit that I was a little worried about my big kick-off this morning after spending an evening with Tora Tora in to the wee hours of the night, but the excitement kicked in and got me to the gym raring to get this thing started. I decided to do Body Step this morning because I have missed doing my friend Jennifer Smith's classes (and it was my friend Ashley's big post-baby workout debut). I must admit that my heart sank a little bit to hear that Body Step has been changed to Athletic Step but I LOVED every second of it. We will see if I still love it in the morning;~)
After that, I did my regularly scheduled Team Training with Heather who never fails to disappoint. Of course sprinting in the perfect fall weather was involved (my least favolite thing to do in the universe) but I hit a major milestone with a few of the other excercises so I'm feeling grrrrreat! I just don't know how I would do it without the support of my group fitness buddies and the motivation of the instructors.
My hubby just called and asked if I wanted to participate with my 8 year old while he works with his running coach. "It will be a hilarious story and video footage for your blog". I CAN NOT repeat the words that came out of my mouth after that conversation ;0) Have a great night everybody!
